Videophone Ten Digit Numbering in Progress
On December 31, 2008, all videophone users will have a true 10 digit phone number with ability to transfer their phone number to different video relay services (VRS) and Internet Relay service companies. According to the FCC, VRS companies are required to incorporate the new 10 digit numering system into their system. Ever since Sorenson VRS rolled out the first videophones and subsequent videophones such as the D-Link i2eye, Ojo, Viable VPAD, and the soon to be released HOVRS Mobile Videophone, deaf people have been unable to call various videophones using traditional 10 digit numbers... Facebook, an on-line social network website, is increasingly popular in the deaf and hard of hearing community. Deaf Woman Buys Funeral Home
A deaf funeral director has bought her boss, making the funeral home all hers to operate. In Vermillion, S.D., 60 miles south of Sioux Falls, Lori Kober accomplished a feat that no one like her has ever done, buying a funeral home business. Kober is considered the first deaf female funeral director to buy a funeral home business in this country.
